Description

Gboard has everything you love about Google Keyboard—speed and reliability, Glide Typing, voice typing, and more—plus Google Search built in. No more app switching; just search and share, right from your keyboard.

Gboard also has emoji search to help you find emoji faster, plus GIF search, and multilingual typing to let you switch languages on the fly.

Glide Typing — Type faster by sliding your finger from letter to letter

Voice typing — Easily dictate text on the go

Search and share anything from Google: — Press on G to search and share:
• Nearby stores and restaurants
• Weather forecasts
• News articles
• Sports scores
• And anything else you’d search on Google

Emoji Search — Find that emoji, faster

GIFs — Search and share GIFs for the perfect reaction. (Available in apps that have implemented image keyboard support)

Multilingual typing — No more switching between languages manually. Gboard will autocorrect and suggest from any of your enabled languages, without the need to tap on the globe key.

Google Translate — Translate as you type in the keyboard

Pro tips:
• Press and hold Enter to choose from hundreds of emoji in any app (Android 4.4+).
• Learns as you type: No need to manually add words to a personal dictionary. Type a word once and you can gesture type it or find it in suggestions next time. Long press a suggestion to remove it from your “learned words” or the keyboard dictionary.
• Sync your learned words across devices to improve suggestions (enable in Gboard Settings→ Dictionary → Sync learned words).
• Gesture cursor control: Slide your finger across the space bar to move the cursor.
• Gesture delete: Slide left from the delete key to quickly delete multiple words.
• Make the number row available all the time (enable in Settings → Preferences → Number Row)
• Symbols hints: Show quick hints on your keys to access symbols with a long press (enable in Gboard Settings → Preferences → Long press for symbols).
• One handed mode: On large screen phones, pin keyboard to the left or the right of the screen by long pressing on Enter and selecting the thumb icon.
• Fast symbols: Gesture from the “?123” key to temporarily switch to the symbols keyboard and insert a symbol.
• Fast capitalization: Gesture from the SHIFT key to a character to capitalize it.
• Themes: Choose a theme with or without key borders to suit your style.

Awesome! This is really very helpful, Specially voice typing freedom. This will great if you allow us backup settings and save and restore them from Google account. In my thinking may be someone also agree with me. I don't like regular Google Key Board theme and configurations. So this will be great for me to continue with Gboard on my every new device. Lots of people also don't know how to configure, so allow us to store a copy of settings locally to share with others. Regards! Full Review

Almost every feature seems to be on par with or better than the default keyboard. There are a few minor tweaks required or old habits I'm relearning but overall it performs and predicts better. One thing that must be added though (unless I just continue to miss it) is a Hangul keyboard. The standard Samsung keyboard has Korean so I don't see why they cannot add it in. Other than that, great keyboard with easy to use multilingual swapping and prediction. Full Review

Rated 5 but it's a keyboard and it does what it's supposed to. Gif integration is nice. New emoji style is nice. Bitmoji integration is okay--not as many choices as if I used the Bitmoji app itself so rarely use it. Google search and other features are convenient. But WTH is going on with the stickers???? Stickers are horrible. And I shouldn't have to download apps for stickers. The keyboard should have more and needs better art. Full Review

There are a lot of minor UX issues when using it like for example the number of required taps to reach the selection tool (the one under the icon). Also please collaborate with the 1password team to add passwords filling integration to the app. It's the only secure way of dealing with passwords without abusing accessibility features Full Review

Still like Swiftkey better and I really want to like this but most things can be done faster; capatalizing the next sentence, emoji search (without the need to hit a search button), getting to the number pad, putting a space after punctuation, no predictive text in Google search. I'm sure I'm missing some things but that's it so far. Only using because I wanted a change of pace for a sec. Will go back to Swiftkey Full Review

Normally we love this keyboard, but the latest update creates multiple text messages for the receiver, if there are any of the emojis in the messages. Sent an "I love you" to my husband with a kissy emoji and he received it six times. After further testing, we discovered only messages with emojis from the Gboard do this. Since we can't send a bug report this will have to do. I will edit/improve this review when it's fixed. Full Review

As others have said, predictive text is only on some screens/apps, leaving me guessing in the browser app all the time. Custom dictionary doesn't work at all, so I have to constantly peck out my email address like a chicken. Landscape mode is horrible, dominating the screen. Glide is good. Gifs and emoji are good. It has promise. Full Review

Right now, the app wont autocorrect any swedish words, and the multilingual option therefore also doesn't work at all. This is otherwise my favourite keyboard and I really wish this issue would be fixed so I don't have to change it for something else that, as of right now & for me, actually works. Full Review

I really wanted to like this keyboard. The interface looks and feels great, it's fast and accurate. However when you type individual letters instead of using gestures, autocorrect is just plain broken. For example, if you type "dont" or "sont", the word "don't" appears in the suggestions above, as it should. But pressing space to enter the suggestion doesn't work, despite this being enabled in the settings. If autocorrect worked properly with typing as well as gestures, I'd consider using this over Swiftkey. Until this happens, I can't recommend the app unfortunately. Full Review

Very good overall. Best keyboard application by far. One recommendation is to add an option to see all of the words that you have added to your dictionary and the option to easily remove some of them. Right now, if you mess up while typing, it's really to accidentally add random phrases to your dictionary Full Review

Wow! Okay,so this is a nice improvement from the previous versions. I can finally use my keyboard in my browser. Whoop!!! However, I'd like to suggest an automatic space bar after punctuations please, it makes typing faster and I don't want to stop using this keyboard for that reason. I hope this is put into consideration. Full Review

This has come a long way. I still hate how useless suggested words are sometimes when it comes to plural terms, and the auto-capitalization after ellipses, and the fact that autocorrect/dictionary really doesn't want to forget things. Full Review

Only has the most basic features. No arrow keys, no customization at all, auto correct and prediction are average. I mean it's usable but there are no less than a hundred better keyboards in the store. The star rating is inflated because it's pre-installed on every phone and teens like the animated poop emoji probably. Full Review

Had to get away from a too-buggy Swiftkey. This is a no-nonsense, fast, smart, keyboard. Could use more options/controls, but I'm liking it a lot. "Glide" seems to need improving, but I haven't given it a decent trial, yet. Best I've found, unless you need colorful, graphical. Full Review

When I disabled the emoji key that is on the left of the spacebar it changed the return key into an emoji key. I want to be able to keep having to long press the ',' to get to the emoji keyboard so I don't start it by accident as frequently. But I also want to have a return key. Please change it so that I can make the key in the bottom right a return key and keep the emoji key hidden. This is specific to the Google messenger app. Full Review

This is one of the best keyboards in play store. The major annoyance which made me rate it this low is, it fails when it comes to personal shortcuts. It works when I update it or re-install it on my Oneplus 5. After some time, when I try using personal shortcuts, nothing happens. Please fix this. Other than that great keyboard.☺️ Full Review

It tries to put words that don't make sense and can't seem to figure out that you're not trying to say words with "-ing" or "ed" . For example; I say "Do you babysit?" And it thinks the perfect word should be "babysitting." Why? "Do you babysitter" was the exact recommendation that I got. This makes no sense. It's an utterly garbage keyboard. It doesn't even know what you're trying to say if you miss ONE letter. ONE LETTER. Full Review

Gboard needs a key to minimize the keyboard when not needed. Similar to Apple's iOS 11, the key under the shift key, at the bottom right. I just needed to submit a form and had the keyboard blocking the SUBMIT button. Tapping the screen outside the keyboard didn't hide or minimize the keyboard. Having a key to minimize will make life easier. Full Review

It's one of the better keyboards but still falls behind SwiftKey. The major issue I have with Gboard is that it doesn't offer word predictions on all places, such as when typing in the web browser's address bar which then becomes a big advantage for SwiftKey. Same goes when I'm sending an email; SwiftKey knows my top three people and suggests those when typing in the "To:" field of the email I'm about to send - Gboard does not. If this would be fixed I would definitely consider switching to Gboard. Full Review

The keyboard if it finds a wrong word or wrong spelling doesn't allow me to correct it rather makes me delete the whole word and retype it. I can't delete a single letter in a word of I try that whole keyboard collapses. Also autocorrect was better before it would correct automatically now no 'IT' needs your attention and then if it's wrong I have to delete the whole word instead a changing a character. Sucks using this. I wish Google actually improves with every release and not make it worse. Full Review

Gboard is a very effective keyboard. Thumbs up Google. However, unlike other effective keyboards, gboard lacks the ability to predict and autocorrect mistyped words in search boxes..the predictive feature doesn't work when you're typing into a search box of a browser or any other page...this really stresses me out. Its a good app... But voice typing on it is very tedious... Especially Urdu language comprehension accuracy is about 20%. On each and every sentence I have to delete incorrect typing and repeat words again and again which really sucks. The English language comprehension for voice typing is quite better though not very accurate, I am not sure it is only for a non-native English language speaker like me or it is for native speakers as well. Generally does a good job, but it's a downgrade coming from Swiftkey. The only major advantage Gboard has over Swiftkey is that it allows you to write in more than 2 languages. The automatic emoji suggestion is sort of fun, but not super useful. My main complaint is that it's really bad at learning words that I type. Swiftkey is super fast at learning new words. As one example, Gboard keeps correcting "at" to "åt" a swedish word, even though my language is set to Norwegian, and I keep correcting it to "at", but I never learns. I don't mind that it's internal language model has some errors for uncommon languages like Norwegian, but please learn that if I keep typing "at" and then correct it to "at" again after you've autocorrected to "åt", then maybe autocorrecting to "åt" is the wrong thing today do.
